The Idea Behind WonderFlat
WonderFlat began with a quiet frustration.
Coloring is supposed to feel calm, immersive, and restorative — but most coloring books subtly work against that experience. Pages snap shut. The center gutter breaks illustrations in half. Thin paper bleeds through, forcing you to color on only one side or hold back.
Instead of helping you slow down, the book becomes something you’re constantly managing.
We kept thinking: why does something meant to be peaceful feel so compromised?
A Better Coloring Experience
WonderFlat started as an exploration of whether coloring books could be designed differently — not as disposable paper products, but as thoughtfully made objects that respect the experience itself.
The breakthrough came with panoramic spreads that open completely flat, allowing illustrations to flow uninterrupted across the page. No gutter. No page fighting you. Just a wide, open space that invites you in.
As soon as we saw the first prototypes laid open on a table, the difference was obvious. Coloring felt calmer. More immersive. More intentional.
That moment became the foundation for WonderFlat.
What We Focused On
To make that experience possible, we focused on a few non-negotiables:
- A true flat-lay design that opens completely flat from edge to edge
- Panoramic spreads that allow illustrations to breathe without interruption
- Ultra-thick, premium paper designed to prevent bleed-through
- Pages sturdy enough to color both sides with confidence

In an age where so much imagery is generated instantly, we made a deliberate choice to work with human illustrators — people who sketch, revise, refine, and bring intention to every line.
